Ride Of The Day
JAMIE KAH - SEB SONG
It didn’t take long for Jamie Kah to remind punters how sublime her skills are, winning the opening race on Seb Song in her first metropolitan meet after resuming from her suspension.
Kah couldn’t have been in a more awkward spot before the turn, with horses to her outside and in front of her.
However, she bided her time and waited for the run to appear before Seb Song bolted in.
Horses to Follow
PAULELE
The two-year-old race held at Moonee Valley at the end of November is always a good form-line for the future.
Two years ago Brooklyn Hustle defeated Everest winner Yes Yes Yes, and last year it was taken out by Tagaloa.
Based on the style of his win, James Cummings’ debut winner Paulele looks a high quality youngster for the future.
He ran away from his rivals to salute and he looks destined for a race like the Blue Diamond Stakes.
PRES DE TOI
Brave effort to hang on and run second to Re Edit, after covering 1633 metres which was 14 metres further than the winner.
Keep an eye on where she lands next.
OCEAN BEYOND
Warrnambool trainer Daniel Bowman has found himself a nice horse.
He recorded the sixth fastest last 200 metres for the meeting of 11.65 seconds, and his time of 1.10.59 minutes was much faster than the Benchmark 78 won by Bandersnatch who recorded 1.10.96 minutes.
Sizzling Sectionals
QUEEN ANNABEL
One day things will work out again for Queen Annabel, who recorded the fastest last 400 metres for the meeting of 22.85 seconds with her fourth behind All Banter.
She also had little luck in the closing stages, being held up for a run.
PROPHET’S THUMB
Prophet’s Thumb is another mare who is building to a win.
She sizzled home in the fastest last 200 metres for the meeting, when second to Grandview Avenue with a time of 11.42 seconds.
Excuses
In the two-year-old event, stewards reported that BRAZEN BOY over-raced in the lead.
Rider Jamie Kah reported the gelding made an abnormal respiratory noise.
A post race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. A swab sample was taken for analysis.
When questioned, trainer Phillip Stokes reported that the horse will have a dynamic scope on Tuesday and the results would be forwarded to the Stewards.
He also added that it was his intention to spell the gelding.
