Saturday Tips and Best Bets for Caulfield 3/2/23

Caulfield Racecourse is gearing up for another great Saturday card of racing.

The rail in the 9m position and despite what some may think, plays very fair with minimal track bias.

With this being the case, this sets up for some exciting racing by allowing all horses to have their chance.

A key strategy for races 1400m or longer at Caulfield is to avoid those runners that are positioned too far back on the speed map.

The layout and conditions of the track can make it challenging for horses to overcome being further off the speed.

 

 

Caulfield Tips and Best Bets from Jack Dickens

The spotlight this week goes onto a horse sired by Exceed And Excel, in the Group 3 Chairmans Stakes over 1000m.

Eneeza has already caught the eye of some punters and I still think she's a betting proposition.

She demonstrated her prowess at this track and distance winning at listed level a little over a month ago.

That performance suggests she is a cut above average and well suited to go back to back over the 1000m at Caulfield.

She sat four wide last start and was still able to maintain the lead and let down to beat her rivals.

Damien Lane has been booked again and I expect her to be ridden in a similar way.

Look for Damien to kick forward from gate 6 and find the lead, before releasing her on the bend to break their hearts.

Looking back to the start prior, the Ottawa Stakes usually is a great form reference for the Chairmans.

I predict that Eneeza will start closer to $2 on the day and be very hard to run down.
