Right Punters, off to Caulfield this Saturday!

This promises to be an intriguing day of racing with plenty of good horses flying around the track!

Before we get to the runners I want to back, lets first start with the track.

I believe with the rail back in the true and with some of the natural irrigation that has occurred across the past week, early on we might see the inside lanes being slightly less favourable.

As always we’ll watch and adapt as need be as the race meet unfolds.

The highlight of the meeting and the one I want to bet into is clearly the Group 3 Victorian Handicap.

Race 8 #5 Seonee $5.00

This race has many runners that have had Group 1 experience which should throw up a fascinating contest on race day.

The speed on paper looks to be promising which should set up well for the Patrick Payne runner, Seonee.

The 5YO mare progeny of Winning Rupert looks a great bet.

Her recent outing at Caulfield when finishing strongly behind Waltz On By indicates she’s in good form.

She sat back in the field and came home strongly, with a repeat effort surely putting her in the finish.

She’s run a career peak in that outing and should be very competitive in this field.

 

Race 3 #6 River Noire $10.00 & #12 I Am Caiver $12.00

Peter Moody brings both of these gallopers here in terrific order.

River Noire ran into a very sharp horse in Moby Dick last start and I think sets up well for this occasion staying at 1200m.

I expect Nolan to roll forward and potentially get the back of his other horse I Am Cavier.

From there he can peel three wide off the bend and hopefully be in the finish.

 

As mentioned, I Am Cavier will sit outside the leader on Saturday and comes from a very strong form reference.

The winner of the race Johnny Rocker has since run 2nd to Imperatriz in a Group 1, Midtown Boss who came out and won last Saturday at Flemington and Dashing finishing 4th on Saturday by only 0.9L.

Caulfield Race 9 #3 First Immortal $2.80

This classy stayer couldn’t have been more impressive winning first-up at Caulfield over 1600 metres, where he even took his connections by surprise.

He steps up to 2000m, a distance he has had seven starts for five wins and a second.

He’s also undefeated in two starts at Caulfield.

The last time he raced over 2000m at Caulfield he carried 63.5kg and won a Benchmark 78 easily.

He’s a star and only bad luck looks his danger.
