Rosehill Tips for Guineas Ranvet & Golden Slipper 2024

The boys are back, with Mick Gannon and Luke Hovhanesian having all the mail you need in the feature races of the day.

Race 5 - Ranvet Stakes - Mick Gannon

A field of 7 line up in search of Group 1 glory and it's the local Think It Over ($2.50) who has come up the favourite.

He produced his 3rd highest rating of his career last start and will only improve out to the 2000m.

There's a lack of speed in this race and that will mean Nash roles forward and rides him like he's the best horse.

The query on Buckaroo and Via Sistina is the likelihood of a Good 4 or Soft 5 track, with all the talk from the stable that they'd relish wet conditions.

Sticking strong with Kerry Parker and his gutsy gelding Think It Over.

 

Race 6 - Rosehill Guineas - Luke Hovhanesian

I backed him in the Randwick Guineas and I'm not dropping off now as he steps up to 2000m.

Ceolwulf ($19.00) looks great value after a luckless last start effort when forced to the worst part of the track along the rail.

He finds a race here with minimal pressure and can slide forward to offset the wide barrier.

Him and Ganbare ($15.00) will control the race and have every chance gifted to them.

Race 7 - George Ryder Stakes - Luke Hovhanesian

Everest winner Think About It ($4.20) is on a Doncaster path that really starts to heat up here.

Connections will be hoping for a return to his best after a moderate effort first up.

He will be able to find the three wide line from barrier 17 and just needs clear running to storm over the top of them.

Victorian raider Veight ($10.00) has been a model of consistency this preparation and is deserving of a saver as he hops the border.

 

 

Race 8 - Golden Slipper - Mick Gannon

An absolutely fascinating edition of the Golden Slipper, with 6 Waterhouse/Bott trained gallopers set to inject plenty of speed into the race.

Chris Waller will be looking to make it back-to-back Slipper wins with the unbeaten Switzerland who will line up as the deserved 2nd favourite.

My query on him is the map, he has an experienced Craig Williams drawn inside and they'll be vying for the same 3 back running line position, which could force J Mac's hand to settle a pair further back than he'd like or risk sitting 3wide the trip.

Advantage Storm Boy ($2.15), who maps a treat and has great early speed to put himself in the firing line.

He brings the clear best ratings into this, maps to sit on-speed and should be too classy for them.

Prost ($34.00) is the knockout at big odds.
