Market Movers tips at Doomben & Flemington 090618

The Doomben surface has received plenty of criticism in recent weeks and on Saturday the club has taken the extra precaution of moving the feature Group 1 Stradbroke to Race 5 on the card.

The early scheduling of the big Group 1 feature is the Brisbane Racing Club's attempt to increase the likelihood that the race will run given threat of the track deteriorating to a point where any remaining races will be abandoned.

This has not stopped punters from picking off perceived value in the early markets, with a number of strong moves seen at both Doomben and Flemington as documented below.

 

Doomben Early Market Movers

Savanna Amour

Classy 4yo mare who ran well here last start in the Listed Chief De Beers when worked to cross from a wide gate before battling away to not be beaten all that far in sixth place. Has excellent Melbourne group form and that should be enough to have this moderate lot covered. Will find a gun position close to speed and be very hard to beat.

 

Ulmann

Finally gets to a mile, which he likes and has been looking for all prep. Maps beautifully from gate two and with speed drawn out wide, he can let them all go to find a great position tucked in behind the first few. Has the lethal Frosty and Weir combination and the early market support suggests he is ready to fire. Top hope.

 

Seaway

Has been a savage move in early betting ($10 into $5) and must be showing plenty at home. The SP profile is very encouraging where he has been heavily backed at his past few, latest when a close up second to the smart Lisdoonvarna. This huge market move must be respected.

 

Perast

Could be the next big stallion prospect and has a very impressive SP profile of late, where he was well supported in betting last start. Draws out a fraction here however will still push forward for the lead. Will be out in front or outside the leader, in clean air the entire trip and suspect he is good enough to kick clear and win. Money is spot on.

 

Fundamentalist

Is clearly very smart after coming in for strong support during his Adelaide campaign.  Her latest at group level where she put in a huge run to only just miss when running second. Early betting here would suggest she has come through the 4 week freshen up in fine style and is primed for this. Could blow them away.

 

Heavenly Thought

Has shown an electric turn of foot at his past two outings and no doubt about him running the Derby trip right out. Got back midfield in the Grand Prix stakes here last start before charging late to reel in the leaders in a very impressive win. Has to take on plenty of smart ones again however suspect he is the winner. Yes.

 

Pedrena

Mick Price stayed in the ownership of this mare which adds confidence. The midfield finish in the Group 1 Robert Sangster at Morphettville, over an unsuitable distance, signalled her class two starts back, before a dominant win here last start in stakes grade. Money is on again and she should be winning this on route to the Tatts Tiara.

Flemington Early Market Movers

Propelle

Was heavily backed two starts back when she had genuine excuses that day, after missing the start and getting too far back at Sandown. Last start was again hard in the market and chalked up a stylish win at Sale. The penny has dropped and all reports are she is something very smart.

 

Silvera

Gets to the more suitable distance of 1800m and will be allowed to get back and run on late from an outside draw here. When the Tony McEvoy stable and connections back one they rarely miss. The likely winner.

 

Lady Esprit

Has Group 1 form from 3 starts back and that is more than enough to warrant plenty of respect for this. Last start was not beaten far into third by the smart Malibu Style after getting well back. Suspect they may try and ride closer in this, tucked in just behind the speed or at least midfield where she will be in range.

Will be charging over the top late.

 

Wayanka

Journeyman for the astute Waller yard who punters believe has been terribly mispriced by bookies. They have stepped in to take the $31 on offer in early markets with some shops offering as much as $41. Now trading at $19, he could start shorter.

Although not showing too much this prep it is hard to ignore this nice plunge at odds. Money speaks all languages. Can win!

 

Be Tempted

After witnessing a betting move like this it is clear that many are tempted to back this 3yo filly. The Patrick Payne yard do like a bet and they have hoovered up some big early prices bet around this fellow.

Secured the maiden win last start at Geelong in impressive style and has to step up to city Saturday grade here. Has shown enough and happy to follow the Payne money trail. Yes.
