Back to HQ this Saturday and it looks like the racing gods have delivered the goods:
- 25 degrees
- light breeze and
- a Good surface
Perfect conditions for a great day of racing.
With the rail back in the True position, we should see a fair track where tempo plays a key role in circle races, while down the straight, I’m very keen to avoid horses settling at the rear — especially in these big-field sprints.
Now, let’s get stuck into one of the better bets of the day.
Flemington Best Bet and Tips from Jack Dickens
Jack continues to nail his best bets at a good rate!
Race 6 – #1 Oscars Fortune
Honestly... Gavin Bedggood and Mark Zahra — do I need to say much more?
But let’s break down why this 4YO gelding looks perfectly set to strike fresh.
Full Prep Under Gavin Bedggood
The stable has done absolute wonders with tried horses, and Oscars Fortune comes in off a solid 124-day spell — giving Gav the time to get a full handle on him.
With that grounding, expect a sharper, more improved version this prep.
Jockey Booking: Mark Zahra
Zahra took this horse for a jumpout at the end of March, and sticks for raceday.
That’s a significant push — and not one to ignore.
The Zahra/Bedggood combination is running at 23% strike rate, with a massive 31.8% profit on turnover.
Ideal Set-Up
This is a horse who fires fresh (3:1-2-0) and loves the distance (5:4-0-0).
Drawn to land in the first five runners, positioned out wide (which I think will be advantageous down the straight), he gets a dream scenario.
If the race shape is right, I want to be with him every day of the week.
This is a cracking bet at anything over $5, and if you’re looking to play it a bit safer, the place quote near $2 also holds strong appeal.
