Horse Racing Tips for Bendigo Cup 2024

We’re off to the Nursery of Champions this Wednesday for one of Victoria’s much-anticipated country race meetings, the Bendigo Cup.

With the rail in the True position and the forecast showing a sunny 26-degree day, expect this Good 4 track to play fast and favor those on pace.

Last year’s Bendigo Cup Day saw only two winners come from midfield or beyond by the 600m mark, so keep an eye on early speed.

 

This Group 3 race over 2400m, with a prize pool of $500,000, promises to be a great contest.

Like the Geelong Cup, there are several horses likely to press forward from the gates, including Whisky On The Hill, Staunch, Vow & Declare, Sunsets, and Aurora’s Symphony.

Meanwhile, a second wave featuring Immediacy, Sea King, Horrifying, I’m A Dirty Rascal, First Light, and Le Don De Vie will want to settle close.

All signs point to a competitive pace.

#2 Berkeley Square $4.80

Berkeley Square has been flying this prep, and with a bit more early intent last start, it might have pipped Kingswood in the Coongy.

It clocked the second-fastest last 600m, 400m, and 200m splits on the day, with the fastest final 100m of the entire program.

The extra 400m distance won’t be an issue for this finisher, who’s in top form.

 

#10 Immediacy $17.00

With a 2400m run already under the belt, Immediacy is rounding into peak fitness for the Bendigo Cup.

The switch from barrier 17 last start to barrier 7 gives Luke Currie a much better position from the gates.

When Currie teams up with trainers Busuttin & Young, they’re striking at an impressive 18% over their last 100 runs, a good sign for improvement here.

 

#14 I’m A Dirty Rascal $31.00

Although the last start was underwhelming, I’m A Dirty Rascal faced a tough run, back in a field on a Caulfield day that didn’t suit closers.

With the additional fitness from the recent 2400m run and a consistently strong SP profile, I’m willing to forgive that run, especially with the value on offer here.
