Michael Manley – Caulfield Best Bet 9/5/26

Caulfield Race 4 – #4 Chateau Eze

Chateau Eze looks ready to produce a big run in what shapes as a much more suitable setup.

Things simply have not gone her way this campaign, but there has still been enough in her runs to suggest she is capable of bouncing back quickly when conditions suit.

Her spring form around Caulfield was strong, including a quality second placing in Listed grade over 1400m when only grabbed late by Yum after looming as the winner.

Last start at Mornington she had absolutely no luck, badly held up from the 400m through until the 100m mark before finally getting clear too late to make full impact. The run was much better than the finishing position suggests.

The wide draw may actually work in her favour here with the rail out 12 metres, as Caulfield often allows swoopers their chance under that setup later in the day.

Mark Zahra takes the ride, she handles softer ground and her only run on a slow track resulted in a win on debut at Benalla.

With better luck in transit this time around, she looks capable of returning to her best.
