Race 5 - Tab Hall Mark Stakes Luke Hovhanesian

As mentioned in my roughies and longshots article, I am very keen on Rocketing By ($34.00) at mammoth each-way odds.

He gives all the indications he is going to put in a huge performance here and finds a field greatly out of form.

Rachel King knows him well and with inside runs can sneak into the finish and even stick his nose in front when it matters most.

Race 6 - Jra Plate Luke Hovhanesian

This is my bet of the day. Fawkner Park ($5.00) recently destroyed a talented field of runners in the Albury Cup, streaking away for an effortless 3.3L demolition job.

Tyler Schiller was aboard on that day and retains the ride here.

The 5YO gelding plummets at the weights only having to carry 53kg and stays at the 2000m distance he thrives at.

He is at peak fitness now and the barrier draw of three will let him sit close enough in the run to strike.

Looks outstandingly placed to make it back to back wins.

Race 7 - Champagne Stakes - Mick Gannon

Anode (8.00) is looking for a Good 4 to Soft 6 surface to produce his best.

Forgive his last start against the track pattern and on a rain affected surface.

He’s assessed purely off his 1400m run in the Baillieu carrying 58.5kg in a 0.1L defeat to Linebacker.

He now meets Linebacker 3kg better at the weights and has a fitness edge over him.

Anode also carried 4kg more than Broadsiding who won well last Saturday franking the Baillieu form line.

Broadsiding meets Anode 4kg worse from that meeting and has to make up 2.2L.

On the 7-day back up, it’s likely he’ll make another minor improvement, but it’s unlikely to be enough bridge the gap.

Linebacker profiles well third-up for a career peak.

However, that will need to be a big improvement as he’ll need to overcome the 3kg weight swing on Anode and is 21-days between runs which is a slight negative out to the mile for the first time.

Manaal was beaten by the barrier in the Golden Slipper and was one of few who went back to the inferior going to make up good ground.

She was very good in the sires, but raced with the track pattern and race shape in her favour.

Broadsiding was wide in the Baillieu which adds some merit to his run.

Franked the Baillieu form last Saturday, but would need to go to another level to win this.

Anode is the one that represents value, however Manaal is the deserved favourite.

Race 8 - All Aged Stakes - Mick Gannon

Cracking edition of the All Aged Stakes, with a few out of form runners looking to bounce back in a big way.

Private Eye gains the services of J Mac, Buffalo River gets Tim Clark and Buenos Nachos will be ridden by Mark Zahra, so don't be surprised to see those three improve and I'll be keeping them all in my favour.

Espiona will be the beneficiary of strong tempo and has drawn to find the 3-wide line with cover to find the best going down the middle.

Southport Tycoon brings strong form lines to this having put Veight away in nice style, that horse was a dominant winner of the Geroge Ryder at his next start.

Espiona ($4.40) on top but no good thing.
