Caulfield Tips and Best Bets for Saturday 27/4/24

We are off to Caulfield on Saturday for a super VOBIS card.

It looks to be a very competitive raceday on paper but there’s a few angles we really like at this meeting.

Firstly, onto the track.

With no more rain around we should see the Caulfield track in pristine condition!

Rail out 4 meters for the entire circuit should favour those horses on speed.

Dependant on the wind on day this may change so as always, I suggest to punters to watch and adapt to the track conditions!

Now, onto our best bets.

Race 1 #3 Bews $2.60

Early in the card all eyes will be on the Price & Kent Jrn gelding Bews to kick the day off in the right way.

First up this gelding absolutely flew home of a slow tempo after being caught back and wide.

He’s in fact come home in the meeting best 800, 600, 400 and 200 of the meeting.

He gets a much better draw this time around with the inside draw allowing Celine Gaudray to position him further forward from the barrier.

If he shows that same turn of foot he will be too strong late for this field.

 

Race 8 #8 Bold Bastille $1.80

Now onto the main race of the day in the Platinum Showdown.

We see Luke Currie hop upon this star Filly in the care of Ben, Will & JD Hayes.

Drawn perfectly to sit right on top of the speed and find the rail is an enormous advantage for this filly.

She has a good turn of foot which has been shown off slow and fast tempos, making her bombproof.

With an impressive SP profile this campaign ($2 and under in her 4 runs) is a great indication by the market that this horse is pretty special.

The last start win at Bendigo with this hoop on board gives me even more confidence he can ride her in the same way and have the same result.

Looking forward to the races at Caulfield on the weekend, going to look to not only play these as singles but potentially even bundle them together in a multi and get back to some winning ways!

Race 7 #5 The Astrologist $4.40

On weights and ratings this looks an ideal race for The Astrologist.

Although he hasn't won for 14 months he's been competing at a much tougher level.

Two starts ago he finished third in the Newmarket Handicap.

His last start was a non event when he didn't jump well at The Valley in an uncharacteristic performance.

He will be suited by the presence of Jigsaw in the race and can stalk him.
