Michael Manley – Caulfield Saturday Best Bets 29/8/26

Best Bet – Race 5 #6 Shadhavar

Shadhavar is chasing her fourth consecutive victory, a streak which is testament to the placement from trainer Tom Dabernig.

She returned from a spell with an excellent all-the-way victory in the Listed Regal Roller Stakes over this track and distance, fighting off the late challenge of Persian Spirit.

She rises 3kg from that performance, but importantly gets back against her own sex and draws perfectly in barrier one.

With most of her opposition preferring to settle off the speed, Damian Lane should be able to dictate terms from the front and control the race to suit.

The setup looks tailor-made for Shadhavar to make it four straight.

Second Best Bet – Race 3 #10 Darkbonee

Darkbonee is an exciting middle-distance and staying prospect who reaches his third run back from a spell.

Trainer Symon Wilde has an enormous opinion of the lightly raced galloper and is keen to lift his rating towards stronger races.

Darkbonee took another step forward last start when swooping home to win a BM100 over 1600m at Caulfield, and the rise to 2000m looks an even bigger positive.

Jamie Melham retains the ride, he remains nicely weighted and a genuine tempo should give him every opportunity to build momentum before producing his finish.
