Trainers to Follow

Donna Scott

This Albury-based trainer doesn't appear at Headquarters often but when she does, it's time to follow.

Scott has had 4 winners from 10 runners at Flemington and returned a whopping 534% POT.

A horse which has won twice for Donna this preparation lines up on Saturday looking for win number three:

  • ‘Our Last Cash’ ($13) in race 1

Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott

The formidable duo continue to march on through the Spring, with 22 winners from their last 100 runners returning a 24.9% POT.

They have 5 runners at Flemington, all at healthy prices. Worth having something on each:

  • ‘Ambassadorial’ ($8.50) in race 3
  • ‘Amazonian Lass’ ($26) in race 4
  • ‘Goldman’ (dual acceptor) ($6.50) in race 7 & ($31) in race 8
  • ‘Serpentine’ ($8.50) in race 7
  • ‘Sir Lucan’ ($18) in race 7

Clinton McDonald

Clint has been a model of sustained success this year, producing winners on consitant basis.

He's has had 22 winners from his last 100 runners including 8 from his last 30.

He send just the one runner to Flemington on Saturday, and is a top chance of winning:

  • ‘Star Patrol’ ($2.50) in race 9

Jockeys to Follow

James McDonald

Seems the obvious choice, but the statistics suggest J Mac is a jockey you need to follow whenever he makes an appearance at Flemington.

Not only has he been in strong recent form with 23 winners from his last 100 rides, but he also boasts a 16.2% strike rate at this track.

He has a ride in every race except 9 and 10, and the pick of chances look to be:

  • ‘Xtravagant Star’ ($5.50) in race 1
  • ‘Riff Rocket’ ($2.80) in race 3
  • ‘Princess Grace’ ($1.70) in race 6
  • ‘Atahabascan’ ($5.50) in race 7
  • ‘Romantic Warrior’ ($2.20) in race 8

Opie Bosson

Even though Opie’s record at Flemington isn't flash with 1 win from 19 rides, his recent form has been outstanding.

He's ridden 27 winners on his last 100 rides and will be looking to extend that record with his 2 rides on the Flemington program:

  • ‘Sunsets’ ($18) in race 3
  • ‘Skew Wiff’ ($8.50) in race 6

Damian Lane

Features once again, as he continues to greet the judge.

Lane has been in fine form with 24 winners from his last 100 runners returning a 22.8% POT.

The gun hoop will be looking to continue his good run of form at Flemington, with a full book of rides.

Lane's best chances are:

  • ‘Nodachi’ ($9.50) in race 4
  • ‘Stretan Angel’ ($5) in race 5
  • ‘Tamerlane’ ($4) in race 10
