Flemington Tips for Turnbull Stakes Day 7/10/23

When top quality International stars begin to feature in race fields, it signals that the Spring Carnival is in full swing.

This Saturday at Flemington, the Group 1 Turnbull Stakes sees Hong Kong-based superstar ‘Romantic Warrior’ make his Australian debut.

The gun 5YO trained by Danny Shum will be looking to make it career win number 11 from 15 races and secure his fourth Group 1 win.

He'll face fellow international raider ‘West Wind Blows’ as well as Melbourne Cup defending champ ‘Gold Trip’ in a race that will shape the Group 1 staying features in weeks to come.

 

It's a cracking meeting and conditions are set to be perfect, with the track likely to be a Good 4.

The running rail is out 9m the entire circuit, which historically favours middle barriers regardless of settling position.

 

 

Race 5 #3 I Am Unstoppable $3.00

Has produced two huge runs in defeat so far this preparation and gets his chance to breakthrough here.

He was fantastic last start when narrowly going down to ‘Archo Nacho’ and meets him once again, 1.5kg better at the weights.

Expect ‘Honor Galore’ to roll forward and find the front from barrier 3, allowing Zac Spain to track up in behind and present when the whips get cracking.

He has an excellent motor and will be hard to deny him a victory this time.

 

Race 10 #5 Tamerlane $4.00

Has an absolutely stack in his favour here.

This 6YO gelding from the flying James Cummings stable (21 winners from last 100 runners) was terrific first-up when running fifth behind ‘Rediener’.

That runner came out and won the Group 1 Epsom last Saturday, franking the form-line.

He looks to get a very easy lead here under Damian Lane, who like Cummings, is in outstanding form with 24 winners from his last 100 rides.

He'll appreciate the drop in class and I expect him to hard to run down.
