Short quotes hammered

There was more love for our loyal Early Market Movers readers last week, after 4 of our 8 selections booted home to deliver 58% Profit on Turnover (POT).
The damage was done at Caulfield, where we found 3 winners highlighted by Pintoff in Race 4. Our proven model found the gelding at $3.40 in early markets, before he was crunched into $2.50 and duly saluted.
Punters are out in force once again this week, picking off the mis-priced runners early with Victoria’s new Minimum Bet Laws possibly stimulating more activity.
At Flemington, a quality stayer has attracted support with a leading rider aboard. Meanwhile in Sydney, a potential superstar has been hammered in betting at the short quote.
Flemington Tips
Reynaire
Is on debut for the leading Maher/Eustace stable, with no public trial recorded.
He is owned by a prominent group who would expect results, especially with the progeny of one of their stallions (Nostradamus).
Expect him to be primed for this clash and ready to fire.
Surecan
Has jumped a short-priced favourite at all 3 career starts (3:1-1-1), hence he clearly has talent.
The last start effort at Geelong (2 of 9) was sound, where he was held-up and possibly should have won.
If she can settle early on this occasion and find the moving line with cover, expect her to be very hard to beat.
Realm Of Flowers
Has the key booking of leading rider Mark Zahra, who is in high demand and would have had his pick of rides.
The ownership group love a bet and are likely to have been told the horse is going well at home.
She drops back from Group 1 class of the Sydney Cup last start and should find this assignment easier.
Rathlin
Was good at Flemington last start (2 of 13) when he was held up at a vital stage, yet still went very close after missing by 0.1 lengths.
He clearly should have won last time out and is now rock hard fit deeper into this prep.
Expect them to position a touch closer on this occasion to secure clean air from a moving line position.
Rosehill Tips
Headliner
Is from the shrewd Waller camp and does bring strong form from last prep behind the Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside.
She has been readied with one trial and is clearly expected to race well fresh.
Kathy O’Hara will be desperate to reward the faith this stable have had in her over the past few months.
Lennon
Did enough (chased hard) at Canterbury last start over 1250m to suggest the step up to 1400m now suits.
He has a win over the favourite Exoboom only three starts back at the same distance.
The predicted fast tempo here should allow the rider to slot in as the field strings out, and with any cover he should be strong late.
Lost And Running
The price is clearly no spoil however the move is interesting, as it takes a significant amount of support to shift these short odds-on quotes.
He was simply breath-taking last start at Randwick where won as he liked.
The reports are that he has much more to offer and can be racing’s next superstar.
De Grawin
Has won her past 4 starts and does not strike an overly strong event here, for the first-up assignment.
The Pride stable are on fire and would have her prepared to the minute, in an attempt to keep the winning run alive.
She should have the speed to lead and is expected to be kicking for a long way.
