During late October every year, Hong Kong racing fixtures are different to normal because of the summer-winter grass transformation.
After racing on the All-Weather track at Sha Tin last Wednesday night, we are met with a day meeting at Happy Valley, with 10 races on the “C+3” course.
It is the first day on the winter grass at Happy Valley, which usually sees it favouring the backmarkers.
The weather will be nice on this special race day and the going will be good.
Happy Valley Race 3 #8 My My My $7.00
The pace in Race 3 is expected to be fast with several possible leaders including Fabulous Eight, Noir Rider, Super Commander and Dragon Kingdom, which will favour My My My.
This Frankie Lor-trained 4YO will jump from gate 3, and should settle midfield before showing a good turn of foot late in the race.
Last time out over the same course and distance, My My My finished 3rd behind Noir Rider and Happy Tango. It was an impressive run as he was the only backmarker in the first 4.
This horse is doing well at recent trackwork. With Matthew Poon on board again, there is a good chance he will break his maiden.
Happy Valley Race 8 #11 Melbourne Hall $11.00
Melbourne Hall started this season with a competitive rating. He is expected to get a good run today and is only carrying 53.5kg.
At his seasonal debut back on 8 September, he was beaten by Wood On Fire, who was also placed in Class 3 at his next start by a short margin.
This David Hall-trained 5YO did not have a clear run last start. He was bumped by Sight Hero in the final furlong and then was badly hampered.
This horse had a good gallop with stablemate Plikclone last Monday, suggesting he is fit now.
Matthew Poon takes the ride, along with My My My mentioned above and is likely to win the jockey challenge as well.
