17/8/19 Caulfield tips and best bets for Saturday Racing

Best bets at Caulfield
AAPSpring is well and truly in the air as Caulfield plays host to a strong nine-race card this Saturday.
The highly touted Mystic Journey commences her Cox Plate preparation in the Group Two P.B Lawrence Stakes, the feature race of the day.
The track is rated a Soft 5 and the rail out 10m the entire circuit.
With rain easing in Melbourne on Friday morning, the track could return to a Good 4 but will likely have plenty of give in it.
Under these conditions, punters should expect to see on-pace runners who are able to find the rail get a better time of it in the early races of the meeting. This bias should even out as the meeting unfolds.
Caulfield Race 1 Tip #10 Gododdin $7.00
This Exceed and Excel mare returns to the scene of her last victory and comes through the right form lines to be competitive here.
Her last start fourth behind Sylvia's Mother was strong enough to suggest she's up to these.
The third-place getter from that race, Ruban Bleu, brained her rivals down the Flemington straight last Saturday, which gives punters a good lead here.
She's one from one at the track, is proven on a soft surface and has had success over the 1100m.
Now fifth-up into this campaign and with fitness on her side, expect Damian Lane to head straight to the lead and run them along in front.
If she holds her form, she'll prove awfully hard to run down.
Caulfield Race 3 Tip #6 New Universe $3.90
This gelding from the Chris Waller yard finally broke through for his loyal followers last start, and he looks set to make it back-to-back wins here.
Drawn barrier one and with limited speed engaged, look for Kerrin McEvoy to hold a more prominent position and sit one or two pairs back on the rails.
The majority of the field engaged are looking for 2000m and beyond and look to be a run or two short.
He ticks all the boxes and is the one to beat.
With even luck in the run, he'll be flying over the top late.
Caulfield Race 6 Tip #4 Exhilarates $7.50
Was dominant in the Magic Millions, before running a nice second behind Tenley following a freshen up.
She then failed on a heavy track in the Golden Slipper, which is a complete forgive.
After returning from the spelling yard, she was sent for a look around Rosehill in a soft trial, but has since impressed in a jump-out.
The booking of Kerrin McEvoy is a strong push that this girl is flying and is ready to win first-up.
