Best plays for Saturday racing at Flemington

Flemington plays host to a top class day of racing on Saturday, with the highlight being the Group 1 Makybe Diva Stakes over 1600m.
The track is currently rated a Good 4, however between 10-20ml of rain is predicted to fall on race day.
Flemington has excellent drainage and will be prepared with the forecast in mind. However, a serious downpour could leave us in the Soft 5 or 6 range.
The rail is in the true position for the entire circuit and at this set-up, I expect the track to play fairly.
If the rain does come however, look for horses to search for better ground off the fence.

Flemington Race 3 Tip #2 Savatiano $2.60
This Godolphin star has been racing in excellent form for a while now.
She backed that up last start, with a gritty and determined Group 2 win over the 1400m at Caulfield when fresh.
Although she enjoyed a comfortable run along the fence in transit, she really had to fight hard through the line to win that clash.
I love the tenacity she showed to stick her neck out on the line and get the job done.
Sticking to 1400m for this assignment is ideal and she's been blessed by the barrier gods once again. Jumping from barrier four, the mare maps for a replica of her last start run.
Her second-up record is strong (7:2-5-0) and the high-rating win last start tells me that she has returned this prep in impeccable order.
There should be absolutely no reason to jump off her now, and she is clearly the top pick in this race.
She is rated a $2.45 chance on my market, so Savatiano is certainly worth a bet at this early stage.
Flemington Race 4 Tip #7 Bold Star $4.60
This looks a cracking edition of the Bobby Lewis Quality, with a number of exciting prospects to take their place in this field.
I've leant towards the way of the SA galloper Bold Star, who put in a very eye-catching performance first-up at Caulfield.
In that 1100m hit-out, he got well back in the running and was helped by some quick sectionals in front.
Once clear in the straight, he flew home in the quickest last 600m, 400m, and 200m sectionals of the entire meeting and was only beaten around 1 length on the post.
He definitely deserves a chance to step-up in class here, and stretching out to 1200m now second-up is perfect.
The gelding has a fitness edge over two of his key rivals in Tofane and Zoutori, and looks perfectly placed by trainer Gordon Richards.
He also drops 4kg into this run which is a huge weight swing, and is proven down the Flemington straight having notched up two wins and a second from three attempts.
Craig Williams retains the ride and from barrier 8, look for him to get a lovely trail into the race before letting down through the line towards the grandstand side of the track. At this stage of the day, I am confident this will be the superior part of the track.
I have him marked a $3.50 chance and I'm happy to take the current quote.
