Best plays for Rosehill on Saturday

Rosehill Gardens plays host to a solid nine race card on Saturday, with strong fields and plenty of vale on offer for punters.

With cool weather forecast in Sydney, it's likely the track will remain a Heavy 9.

The rail is out 2m the entire circuit and at this set-up, it should suit on-pace runners and low to middle barriers.

Rosehill Race 1 Tip #3 Cafe Royal $6.50

This daughter of Snitzel has built an imposing career record of 4 wins from 5 starts.

The only blemish on her record came two starts back, when she finished second after jockey Koby Jennings failed to ride the filly to the line.

Jennings received a suspension for that ride, but made amends last start by steering her to a tough first-up victory.

There is no doubt she'll take a stack of improvement into her second-up run and from the soft draw in barrier 3, she maps for a smooth trip.

The Heavy ground is an unknown, but her breeding suggests she'll handle it and she was strong in victory on a Soft 7 last prep.

While this is a step up in grade to a BM74, she's back racing against her own age group which is a huge plus.

Punters should expect to see Nash go forward on Frosty Rocks, which will give this girl the perfect trail into the race.

On turning for home, look for Sam Clipperton to ease off the heels off the leader and produce this filly for a strong finish to the line.

Rosehill Race 8 Tip #9 Night Of Power $4.20

This Bjorn Baker trained galloper has an outstanding second-up record of two wins and a placing from three starts.

The rise in distance is ideal for this horse, who should relish every bit of the rain affected 1500m.

In a huge push for his chances, premiership leading jockey James McDonald has jumped off the favourite to take the ride.

Not only does he tick a few boxes in the stats department, but he's also mapped for a dream run in transit.

From barrier 3, expect McDonald to push forward and sit on the leader's back along the rails for an economical trip.

With a soft run in transit, I expect this guy to prove far too strong over the concluding stages.
