Eagle Farm Race 7 Tip #1 Scallopini $4.00

This Steven O’Dea trained gelding is the class performer of this field and should be at peak fitness third-up.

He is a clear top rater, having won twice at this Listed level and has definitely earned the 59kg he will carry here.

After winning first-up at Doomben, he was sent to Eagle Farm where he found himself 9 lengths last soon after the jump due to a hectic pace up-front.

He came home like a steam train however, finishing 1.4 lengths third after being 3 lengths off them at the 200m mark.

That should stand up as a good form race, given the clock had them only 0.14 secs off the track record which equates to under a length.

The step-up to 1350m for this clash is right up his alley, as he goes well at this distance range (7: 4-1-1).

Expect Boris Thorton to slot him in midfield this time and have the superior finish late.

Belmont Race 8 Tip #1 False Statement $6.00

False Statement finds himself in a very winnable race here and gets a senior rider engaged for the first time this prep. 

He was an impressive winner first-up at this track, where he caught the eye of many after saluting by over a length. However, I think he was equally as good in his second-up effort despite the 5 length defeat.

In that hit-out, the gelding ran the equal fastest last 600m sectional of the race against a strong rails bias. He managed to produce that performance despite laying in terribly, which denied the rider an opportunity to use her whip.

Expect a rapid tempo in this race, with many speedsters engaged for the 1000m scamper.

False Statement has drawn a gate for the first time this prep (4), which will allow him to settle closer than where he's been in his recent runs. 

Tiarnna Robertson has had her team going brilliantly this season and I expect her to maintain her impressive strike rate in this race.

Newcastle Race 4 Tip #12 Whatyoulookingat $TBA

I liked this filly’s trial at Port Macquarie.

She showed good pace to take up the lead in that hit-out, before going on to win well and beat a handful of previous winners in the process.

The filly then ran well on debut at Newcastle, where she showed the same natural pace but was collared late by a couple of above average gallopers.

That race rated well on the clock for a maiden and she will take significant improvement from that run.

Expect her to break her maiden status in style.
