Winxmania and smart betting moves

Whilst Winx’s farewell takes centre stage on Day 2 of the Championships at Randwick, punters have still identified a number of key runners in the support races.

Caulfield also sees strong betting interest with savage moves for a number of runners outlined below.

Track bias could be a huge factor at Randwick and look for those drawn wide late in the day, to attract even further support.

Super Seth

Is from the shrewd Anthony Freedman yard who rarely miss when they back one.

He was dominant at Ballarat on debut after being heavily backed ($1.85 into $1.75) and then racing away to brain them all by 6 lengths.

I suspect he is well above average and should dominate in this class. Yes

Steel Prince

Another Anthony Freedman runner who can also win for this lethal betting stable.

He has won his past two and steps up to the 2400m for the first time this prep, a distance he loves (5:2-3-0).

The preparation has been perfect and he will relish the extra ground and should simply race away with this. One of the better bets nationwide all day.

Tarwin

Is lightly raced (2:1-1-0) and has the record to be winning this following his last start effort when finishing 2 of 10 at Caulfield.

Mick Kent knows how to set one up and he would have planned this prep meticulously.

He will travel midfield with cover and be peeling at just the right time to run home hard over the top. Yes.

Leiter

Interesting runner who arrives fresh for this after 19 weeks off.

He won on debut at Bendigo in dominant fashion (4.75 lengths) and a repeat of that effort here would see him winning again.

Although drawn wide, he can find cover midfield in the moving line and have the momentum up to keep coming late.

Could just blow them all away.

Archedemus

Has won his past 5 and no reason he can’t continue on with it here.

Trainer Gwenda Markwell is having a stellar Autumn, taking out the Derby on Day 1 of The Championships with Angel Of Truth.

The recent trial at Warwick Farm was a perfect lead-up for this and he will race close to speed and be awfully hard to beat. Yes.

Cheer Leader

Looks a smart 2yo filly from the top line Snowden yard.

They are the masters of getting these young horses to fire and the market suggests she is showing plenty at trackwork.

She is the likely leader and if a few cheap sectionals come her way out in front, it will take something to run her down.

Unforgotten

Was supported to win the Doncaster at her latest outing before finishing a midfield 13 of 20.

This looks much easier back to Fillies and Mares only grade, and she could improve sharply.

Will get back from a wide draw (gate 17) and be running into it on the right part of the track (middle to outside sections).

Appears good value.

Spright

Just missed in the Group 1 William Reid at her latest when 2 of  9 behind Sunlight.

She was a big tip on that occasion and the stable will have her flying.

There is a slight concern regarding an inside draw (gate 3) when wider lanes are likely to be preferred later in the day.

However she looks to have a touch of quality and must be considered.
