Let it rain
AAPDistance | 1500m |
Grade | Group 1 |
Track Rating | Heavy 8 |
Prizemoney | $588,000 |
Class | 3 y.o & Up - Fillies & Mares |
2018 winner | Daysee Doom $21 |
A capacity field of fillies and mares line up for the Group One Coolmore Classic over the Rosehill 1500m.
In a wide-open affair, the early favourite is the Chris Waller trained I Am Serious who returned to the track with a strong second in the Group Two Millie Fox.
Second-favourite Jamaican Rain won the Group Three Mannerism first-up and will relish the constant downpour that is precited for Sydney.
Before scratchings the pace looks set to be fast, with the likes of Mandylion (1) (first emergency), White Moss (5), Alassio (6), Bella Martini (9), Cool Passion (13), Jamaican Rain (16) and Daysee Doom (21) all set to push forward and fight out the lead.
Oregon's Day (3) looks to get the gun run, mid-field and one off the rail.
I Am Serious (15) will be ridden cold from the wide barrier and should be suited by the hot tempo up front, along with Moss Trip (7).

Racing Market Movers
Jamaican Rain has been supported off the back of the predicted heavy track, into $7.50 from $8.50.
There has been a nibble for El Darado Dreaming, $19 into $17, who ran out of his skin last start and will relish the extra 100m.
Last start winner White Moss has been specked at the big odds of $51 and has come in two rolls of the board to $34.
Key Runners
#1 Daysee Doom $26.00
Defending champ who had to come from barrier 14 to salute in last year's event.
She's not going nearly as well this time around and with a poor Heavy track record, she looks well out of favour here.
#2 Dixie Blossoms $14.00
Returned to the track with a solid second last start, but looked big in the yard and should take huge improvement from that run.
In this event last year, she finished within a length of the winner and carries 1kg less this time around.
She has performed well on a Heavy surface in the past.
From the soft draw and with her tactical gate speed, she can be ridden to suit the pattern of the day.
#5 Oregon's Day $13.00
Won well last start and looks to get a gun run from the draw.
Given her tactical speed, she can sit wherever Michael Walker wants her to.
Unfortunately, her wet track form is awful and she looks a huge risk on a rain affected surface.
#6 Alassio $13.00
Is now into her seventh run of the preparation and is rock-hard-fit.
Tim Clark will push forward and allow the mare to make her own luck.
The wet track is a concern as she is untried on a heavy surface.
Her fitness edge will take her a long way, but would prefer on a Good track.
#11 I Am Serious $6.00
Returned in good order when running second to White Moss over 1300m.
The rise in distance is a plus, as is the predicted heavy surface.
McDonald stays on board which is a good sign and you'd expect her to be flying at them late.
The only concern is how far back she'll get from the wide draw.
If there are a few scratchings of on-pace runners, the pace could only be moderate which will make McDonald's task even greater.
#17 Jamaican Rain $8.50> $7.50
The wetter the better for this mare, who drops 5.5kg off her impressive win in the Mannerism on a dry track.
She is a genuine swimmer and the conditions give her a huge shot of claiming Group One glory!
She'll go straight to the lead from the wide draw and look for her to make every post a winner.
#15 Moss Trip $15.00
A back-marker who does her best work off a fast-tempo.
Should get the race run to suit and the wet track is no issue.
One for the multiples.
