Barrier, early speed & a top class hoop: a lethal combination over the Rosehill 1200m

 Steve Hart

Rosehill is currently rated a Good 4 surface with 4-8mm of rain forecasted on Saturday. The track has played fair in recent weeks and should offer all runners an even chance. There is potential for riders to steer a few metres off the fence in the straight given we’re back here for the second consecutive weekand and the predicted race-day showers.

Rosehill Race 1 #7 Charlayne

Draws barrier one and has enough early speed to hold a prominent position behind the leaders. We Have Lift Off (barrier two) and Puppet Master (barrier three) will jump to lead, affording Charlayne the gun run. Kerrin McEvoy takes the ride for the Chris Waller stable and look for him to smoke the pipe until the home turn before easing off the leader’s heels to boot the three-year-old home.

Charlayne is currently $4.80 fixed odds.

Rosehill Race 7 #2 Global Glamour

Gets the opportunity to lead them up over the 1200m from barrier three in the Expressway Stakes. Two other runners in the race with early speed, Addictive Nature and Showtime, are first-up and aimed at longer distance races over the Autumn carnival, so it’s unlikely they’ll be ridden aggressively from the barriers.

Another runner that possesses early toe is Memes who looks likely to take the sit behind Global Glamour given she’s stepping up in class and out to the 1200m.

Kerrin McEvoy is onboard the Waterhouse-Bott trained runner and he has proven his ability to race horses perfectly on the speed. Expect him to do the same here and prove too strong in the latter stages with race fitness on the mare’s side.

Global Glamour is currently $2.80 fixed odds.
