Best horse racing tipster of the week 11 September 2018

About David Taggart

David Taggart’s story is known by many in the racing industry, and despite hitting rock bottom, his voice and insight will always be respected amongst his peers. Now Taggart is quietly emerging as one of the better tipsters within the horse tipping scene, drawing on his experience and knowledge as a former champion jockey.

One of the most talented jockeys to emerge in the late 20th Century, Taggart was one of the key young riders in Melbourne, before moving to Macau in 1996 where he stayed until 2000. Coming back to Australia, Taggart took some time to re-establish his position as one of Melbourne’s leading jockeys. After a few quiet years where he had to battle with his fitness, Taggart was soon riding high again, with his career highlight coming with a win in the VRC Oaks in 2004, where despite being boxed in for much of the race, he managed to pilot Hollow Bullet to a slashing victory. While this was Taggart’s sixth Group 1, it looked to be the springboard to propel him to even greater heights.

However, disaster struck in March 2007, where Taggart suffered a sickening and career-ending fall when riding at Stony Creek. The fall, which was the second serious one in Taggart’s career, broke both his ankles, as well as fibulae and tibias. After such a devastating end to his career, Taggart has unfortunately suffered further with numerous medical problems and challenges. But not being kept down, Taggart has lately demonstrated his keen racing mind, establishing himself as a tipster to follow.

David Taggart tips at G1X primarily focussing on NSW races but from time to time he also assesses racing in other states too. Up to May 2018 Taggart's best bet tips were recorded where offered otherwise each selection was recorded. After this time all tips are recorded with best bet tips added at double the stake. David Taggart's profit performance using an even stake on all selections, and also for staking up on his best bets, can be viewed on the horse racing tipster leaderboard.
