Top tips for midweek racing at Warwick Farm by Josh Reed

 Steve Hart

Mid-week racing returns to Warwick Farm on Wednesday which is sure to be a useful reference for some stables mapping out their winter of racing. Sunshine is forecast over the coming days in Sydney, which should see the track improve from a soft surface into the Good range. The rail will be in the true position for the meeting, giving every runner an equal chance.

Warwick Farm Race 1 Tip: The Early Play #1 Toryjoy

The Chris Waller trained filly was very impressive in her first-up run this preperation. Depite being slow away and then inconvenienced multiple times after settling on the heels of other runners, she showed a nice turn of foot to push eventual winner Luskintyre Lass all the way to the last stride.

Toryjoy should get a nice trail into this race which will put her in a prime position when turning into the straight. She is going to be fitter for her first-up run over the same distance and with Kerrin McEvoy taking the reins, she should get a gun ride in the gun trail.

Toryjoy is currently $2.20 fixed odds.

Warwick Farm Race 2 Tip: Best Bet #5 Galina

The training combination of Peter and Paul Snowden have got a tremendous filly here out of Smart Missile. She showed a very handy turn of foot last start when going down to her stablemate Eawase by a narrow margin. There is a case she should have won that race had she not laid out in the straight when pressured.

This two-year-old runner will get a lovely cart into this race with speed drawn to her inside. She will be much fitter for her first-up run and with Kerrin McEvoy staying aboard, the star hoop is set for a race-to-race double.

Galina is currently $2.40 fixed odds.

Warwick Farm Race 3 Tip: From the Trials #2 California Laestar

This Zoustar runner is having his first start here after coming off a decent trial finishing behind classy colt Graff. Although he looked a touch awkward in the straight, his trial was full of merit. He is from the dam Laetitia who has produced some quality horses such as Seeking Attention and Hong Kong galloper California Joy.

With Danawi on his inside, he should be able to get a nice track into the race in a forward position. Fitness shouldn’t be an issue with the trial being run over the 1000m and he'll be primed for this run being the class stable runner in the race. Under-rated jockey Winona Costin has the ride and expect her to give the colt every chance to impress in the run home.

California Laestar is currently $41 fixed odds win and $9 fixed odds place. Suggest to play 1 unit win, 3 units place.

Warwick Farm Race 6 Tip: Next Best #7 Revenire

Godolphin rarely go to Warwick Farm and leave without a winner- expect this guy to salute for them on Wednesday. Revenire was declared a non-runner at Kensington three weeks ago due to a mishap in the barrier meaning he comes into this race fresh. At Hawkesbury before that, he sat on the pace and was too good for them in the concluding stages.

He drops back 1kg here and from the inside draw looks to get a nice run with plenty of speed drawn outside him. In-form jockey Tye Angland is aboard and will give the colt every chance.

Revenire is currently $3.60 fixed odds
