Speed Maps Specials at Randwick 14 April 2018

The rail is out 3m the entire circuit for Day 2 of the Championships this Saturday, with fine weather forecast. There has been a decent watering of the track this week with 10mm of irrigation applied over the past ten days. Expect it to play fair with minimal bias with this profile.

   

Randwick Race 1 #11 Bold Arial

Ran an impressive second behind Pure Elation last start, with a 1.8 length gap to third. Pure Elation is now the favourite for the Group Two Percy Sykes Stakes, whilst Bold Arial has been marked $13 for this in what is a Listed race.

The Waterhouse/Bott stable have elected to run over the mile here instead of opting for the 1200m Percy Sykes. Waterhouse is known for producing strong performers over the Randwick mile and it wouldn’t surprise to see a bold showing in this one. 

There is a lack of early speed engaged in this race, with the only noted leaders being Cristal Eyes, who comes off a maiden win at Pakenham, and Bold Arial. Drawn perfectly in barrier eight, expect jockey Joao Moreira to cross to the rails and dictate the race on his own terms. Watch for Moreira to take full advantage of an average-early tempo and prove to too strong for these late.

Bold Arial is currently $13 fixed odds.

 

Randwick Race 10 #4 White Moss

Boasts an outstanding record of five wins and a second from nine starts. Her recent trial performances have been brilliant and she gets the perfect speed map in this race. With limited early speed engaged, expect Lubiton to follow her usual pattern and head to the front for an uncontested lead.

Jumping from barrier four, White Moss will be able to position herself on-pace with cover allowing her to box-seat throughout the trip. She’ll then be able to peel off the leaders’ heels at the home bend and use her turn of foot to blow them away as they head over the famous Randwick rise.
