It was a strong day of racing at Rosehill on Saturday, horses up and in certainly were benefited with few horses making good ground from the back of the field.

With the high-quality horses set to come back, there are several horses we want to follow going forward, but some we believe we can make money out of if placed right next start.

Brodie Nickson from Sky Racing has run his eyes over the replays and found some gems to throw into your blackbook.

Rosehill Blackbookers

Race 2 – Peace Officer

The Clarry Conners-trained five-year-old has shown ability and hasn’t had the right set-up for some time now.

He returned off almost a month's break in the 1400m Midway on Saturday and worked home strongly from the back of the field.

He made good ground out wide against the pattern of the day, a great sign he is going well!

Look for him to potentially step up to 1500m or the mile and prove extremely hard to beat in a similar grade.

Race 4 – Intervarsity

Many could say luckless, many could say disappointing, and we think it could be both.

The Arrowfield-owned Mikki Isle mare jumped well, box seated and didn’t get the chance to extend as favourite backers hoped.

The four-year-old is a talent who will thrive over further, completely unsuited by the sit and sprint required to win Saturday.

She needed Bjorn Ironside to drop away quicker to her outside to allow her the clear running required to get out and extend.

She was caught behind the pack and continued to lay in, denying herself any chance of scoring an unlikely victory.

She is much better than that and confident we will see a different horse next start with clear running.

Race 7 – Spring Lee

No hiding the fact Spring Lee should have won and won well.

The Bjorn Baker-trained four-year-old mare was caught behind the speed as she struggled to find clear running and when the gaps opened it was all too late.

She boasts strong form around Commemorative and is a potential lower black-type if she can continue to improve.

We won’t get a price next start but you must respect.

Race 10 - Up And Under

There could be eight horses to blackbook out of this race, very few enjoyed luck.

Kayobi and many others were screaming out for clear room and never got it, but few have the upside of Up And Under.

The Chris Waller import returned to the races Saturday off two good trials and was great, charging through the pack under a hold.

He never saw clear running and is one of many horses who could make the case they deserved to be in the finish with luck.

He looks like a stayer with a future and one to follow!

Race 2 – Climactic

Climactic was a tough watch after punters piled into the Matthew Dunn three-year-old first-up.

He trialled brilliantly off a great debut behind Shangri La Express in the Golden Gift last spring.

The son of Yes Yes Yes was a horror watch from start to finish as he stepped averagely, was caught on the fence and didn’t have the turn-of-foot to accelerate fast.

He worked through the line well late and although he should improve with headgear in the future, he will thrive once he gets over further.
