Different track but a similar meeting to last Saturday from a betting perspective.

This is a tricky day and there could be several blowouts like we saw at Flemington.

Only two favourites are below $3 on this card with both of those odds-on and unbackable at their prices.

While this meeting is difficult, these two best bets certainly stood out from the rest and both are paying prices good enough to get behind.

The track is currently rated as a Good 4 and the running rail is out 4m for the entire circuit, which should see the track play evenly and give all runners their opportunity.

Let’s take a look at the two runners that stood out from the pack this week.

Caulfield Race 3 #1 Phats $3.70

I was very impressed with the way this former Kiwi made his Australian and stable debut at Flemington 3 weeks ago for trainer Alexander Rae.

He came from last to finish 3rd over the 2500m and never got clean running room until the 150m mark.

With the way this 3yo Gelding hit the line over the last 100m, he should be further improved to go even better here in his second Australian start.

Top jockey Blake Shinn takes the ride and this looks on paper to be an easier race than what he faced last start.

They should set a solid pace up front and set it up nicely for this former Kiwi to swoop and secure his first win in Australia.

Caulfield Race 6 #4 Prinzerro $5.00

This 3yo son of Pierro has been very unlucky not to notch up a win this campaign having bumped into a few very smart types.

He has been beaten by ‘Right To Party’, who looks like a potential star in the making in two of the three races he has competed in and was knocked off by the handy ‘The Black Cloud’ in the other.

He doesn't run into any horses of that sort of quality in this field and will be at peak fitness with this being his fourth run of the preparation.

He is drawn to get the perfect run in the race from barrier 5, being likely to settle just behind the speed, which looks like it will be a slow one for a sprint race.

I rate his form far higher than anything else in the race and with the predicted run of the race that he will get, should be getting a much deserved second career win.
