A great program is set for decision this Saturday with the running of the traditional Oakbank Easter Carnival.

While this track has demons for many punters in South Australia, it should play fairly with only fine weather forecast and the rail in the true.

In contradiction to many other tracks around the country, inside draws are a quick way to the poor house, especially those that settle on pace.

In fact, being back and wide is the preferred pattern for most winners.

These factors have been factored into my mentioned plays below.

Pardon the pun, I am quietly confident of collecting the chocolates with some strong early plays appearing to be presented in the opening markets.

Best Bets for Morphettville by Heath Pope

Race 1 #4 Dodd $7.50

Shane & Cassie Oxlade 3YO Gelding that resumes here.

This maiden goes much better than his record suggests, having already bumped into some handy types in his brief career to date.

Typical of horses that do concede starts in their races, this bloke has been on the receiving end of some bad luck and will be out to rectify some of those performances.

This is the easiest race he will have competed in for quite some time and Oakbank suits his racing pattern perfectly, with many winners sweeping from back and wide in the field.

Given some simply overdue luck in running, I am convinced at the opening prices he is terrific each-way value play.

Rates $4.50!

Race 4 #4 Puissance Dusoleil $6.00

7YO mare that has returned as well as ever, producing three great runs this time in including a second-up win.

The latest when she was runner-up behind Ghetto Supastar now reads huge for this, with that runner since going on to place behind the flying Air Assault in much tougher grade.

In fact I am expecting Puissance Dusoleil to peak for this, stepping up to a trip that she should relish whilst also getting a genuine tempo up front.

The icing on the cake is she also gets in with just 54kg.

Rates $4.00!

I will also be specking roughie #8 Fox D’or at a massive opening quote of $21.00.

Race 6 #6 Disagreeable Miss $12.00

With most of her rivals deep into their current campaigns this mare shapes as the one with the clear upside.

Three runs this time in have actually been much better than they initially read on paper, considering she has been totally unsuited on each occasion.

Comes into this fourth-up and ready to peak stepping up to her preferred distance range for the first time this campaign.

She profiled extremely similar where she ran a cracking runner-up effort in this same race last year.

Interestingly, she won at her only other start around this awkward track hence also has that big advantage over most.

Again gets in down on the minimum with just 54kg and I suspect will be the clear sharp improver.

She must be specked at the big opening double figures on offer.

Rates 6.50!

Race 7 #3 Tijuana $7.00

4YO Hayes trained gelding whose record doesn’t really give him credit for how much ability he really does have.

He resumed against Listed company over 1200m at Moonee Valley and was flushed out the back from the wide draw.

Although he never got into the race, his work late was good beaten just 3.2L.

He is much better drawn here, dropping in grade and stepping up to his preferred 1400m.

Team Hayes hold a strong hand in this race with Anilla also accepted to run however most interestingly J.Toeroek has elected to ride our fancy.

He hasn't been booked this good in ages. Should be fav in our book.

Rates $4!
