Saturday Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets at Eagle Farm 27/4/24

Eagle farm kicks off Stradbroke Season this weekend with 3 listed races including the Mick Dittman Plate, named after a true icon of racing.

The Eagle Farm track has seen nothing but sunshine and will settle as a Good 4 come Saturday.

QLD analyst John Steinmetz has analysed the three feature races, finding a nice roughie in the last.

 

 

Eagle Farm Best Bets & Tips from John Steinmetz

Race 6 #6 Abounding $6.00

Abounding took a well-earned break after winning the 3YO Magic Millions in January, but returns here to add the Mick Dittman Plate to her resume.

She pairs back up with Martin Harley, and Robert Heathcoate thinks this is the best start to her prep in what I could see being a QLD guineas run.

She has had four listed starts without falling out of the top 3 and this is the stat that jumped out at me.

She presents as the clear value pick especially as an each-way chance.

Other dangers in the race include Party for Two and Cifrado.

 

Race 8 #5 Jimmysstar $2.50

Jimmysstar is a star in the making for the Ciaron Maher stable, winning 5 of 8 starts.

He’s fallen into some trouble in recent times, getting knocked off at Flemington by Makram and failing to threaten at Newcastle when stuck in a traffic jam.

I think this will be one of the only times you’ll get him at a price like this.

The move to Brisbane will help Jimmystar refresh and get back into the winning stall in a chance to contest the Stradbroke Handicap.

Main dangers will be stablemate Gringotts and Overriding.

 

Race 9 #13 Torabella $17.00

A young filly out of the Gollan stable has an enormous amount of upside.

She found the line easily in her first two starts, winning by 3.3L at Ipswich and just under 1L at Doomben.

She had every chance to take them on in her last start but battled on fairly for a close third.

Angela Jones and Tony Gollan combine again coming off a win rate of 20% together.

The market hasn’t shown much support yet, but this is largely due to the tricky draw.

However, if she can find a slot in running she is massive overs and can run a belter.
