Horse Racing Longshots for Rosehill

Rosehill Race 5 #11 Street Gossip $126.00 / $24.00

This former Mark Newnham trained mare has been completely missed by the market here.

She trialled much better than her previous preparation, making her campaign debut in the Group 3 Wenona Girl.

She landed towards the rear of the field from a wide barrier and looked poised to run on strongly.

Unfortunately, it was dead end after dead end with no clear running in the straight.

When she did see daylight with 50m to go she was great through the line.

She now sharply rises to 1500m and stays down in the weights.

Jay Ford takes over for the first time and with a lack of genuine pace in this event, could choose to sit closer to the speed from the wide barrier.

She will start half this price come race day and the current place price of $24.00 is ridiculous.

Rosehill Race 9 #12 Coin Toss $10.00

With race favourite Another Wil set to get a run, there is going to be huge value scattered amongst his rivals and I have landed on the former Singapore galloper Coin Toss.

He didn't hit his straps in his first Australian campaign but has looked rejuvenated this time around.

Two outstanding trials leading in to his first up run put the writing on the wall and he didn't disappoint, destroying a field on Canberra Cup day by 2L.

Granted that was against weaker opposition than he will face this Saturday, but it was the manner in which he did it.

He led the field up at a good tempo and just kept kicking the entire straight.

This was something he hadn't done for the Waterhouse / Bott stable previously and he was very strong through the line.

The step up in distance is of no concern and he gets in well at the weights.

He retains jockey Louis Beuzelin and draws well in barrier three to land in the leading division.

With the rail out 6m and on a firm Rosehill circuit, he is going to be mighty hard to reel in if he hits the front.
