The Golden Eagle takes centre stage at Rosehill this Saturday, where the field races for significant stakes money of $10 million.
I’m against the favourite here, who had her chance last start in the Toorak when struggling to finish off late.
This appears to be an afterthought after the Cox Plate target was cancelled and the stable was forced to look for other options.
With a disjointed preparation, there are likely to be challenges to overcome.
Track Conditions
The Rosehill surface is currently rated a Good 4 and with fine conditions predicted for the remainder of the week, this rating should be maintained.
With the rail in the True position for the entire circuit, Rosehill should play to its typical up and in on-pace bias, with those racing inside and just in behind likely to hold some advantage.

The Map
Expect the on-pace profiles of Pericles (1) and Rediener (3) to rush forward and take up the running
Golden Mile (18), New Endeavor (13) and Communist (12) are all likely to press forward and look for a position in the moving line with cover, which should inject some decent speed into the race overall.
Vienna Princes (9), Osipenko (8) and Hawaii Five Oh (1) all appear to have significant speed map favours and can sit just in behind the genuine tempo before presenting late.
The Favourite
Amelia's Jewel is a classic hype horse who every man and his dog wants to tip!
The reality is she was blessed in run two state back winning against nothing at Moonee Valley, then was found out at Caulfield in a moderate Toorak Field.
No doubt she has talent but in the absolute “A Grade” she is definitely a high-risk proposition and looks like an excellent risk here.
Best Bet Tip
Vienna Princess Could not have been more impressive winning the Silver Eagle and has shown she is up to this grade all preparation.
This has been the target all along for a shifty stable who know how to set them up for the “Grand Final”
From gate 9 they can find the moving line with cover before peeling at just the right time to come with a sustained run from the 400m mark all over the top.
Value.
Pericles has the on-speed favours from gate 1 and a touch of quality.
She has been excellent all preparation and is likely to have been primed to peak in this target race.
She had genuine excuses last start and a return to winning form here would certainly not surprise.
Hawaii Five Oh ran a creditable 6 of 12 in the Everest and did that off an attractive SP of $9 against the nation’s best sprinters.
He looks well suited by the step up to 1500m here and now rock hard fit can be ridden closer and presented earlier to get home hard.
The stable has a huge opinion of him and a win here would not surprise.
Osipenko has been a project horse for the Waller yard all the way through, in an attempt to get him to stud as a high-priced stallion prospect.
They have tried desperately to win the Group 1 elsewhere and have now lowered their eyes to high prizemoney restricted grade.
He is very well placed here and while this is not the Group 1 status “tick” they want on the resume, a win would go a long way to satisfying the high-profile owners.
1st Vienna Princess
2nd Pericles
3rd Hawaii Five Oh
4th Osipenko
