Horses getting track favours at Randwick
Steve HartThe Randwick track is currently rated a Heavy 8 with the rail out 9m the entire circuit. With warmer weather predicted in the lead up to Saturday, the track is likely to be upgraded to a Soft 6 by race one.
This set-up has historically offered favours to on-pace runners. The best going is likely to be on the rail for the early races, however if the fence deteriorates as the day goes on, expect the jockeys to be heading to the outside rail.
Randwick Race 1 Tip # 10 Mizzy $11
This two-year-old filly by Zoustar defied the market on debut, running a strong second over the 1100m at Canterbury.
The Anthony and Edward Cummings trained runner jumped as a $61 outsider and was slow out of the barriers, but mustered enough speed to find the front.
She was headed when entering the home turn, but showed a strong will to fight and regained the lead at the 100m only to be run down by a back-marker late.
This filly is bred to run up to the 1400m, so the step up to 1200m is a plus. She'll also have some weight relief, dropping 2kg from her first career run.
There is a moderate tempo predicted for this race and jumping from barrier one, expect jockey Andrew Adkins to lead them comfortably with the light weight.
If she has taken any improvement from the first-up run, expect Mizzy to be more than competitive in this race.

Randwick Race 4 Tip #6 Wide Spread Panic $3.30
This three-year-old filly was gallant in defeat at her last start.
Carrying the top weight of 61.5kg over the Wyong 1350m, jockey Tim Clark elected to ride for luck, taking a sit behind the leaders.
On turning for home, the filly was blocked for a run and when the gap finally opened, she wasn't able to sprint quickly enough with the top-weight.
With clear running at the home turn, she would have likely proven too strong for her rivals.
Trained by Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott, you can be confident that the step-up in distance to the Randwick mile suits.
Drawn the widest barrier, expect Clark to ride positively with the 53kg. The only other runner with early speed is La Chica Bella, who is unlikely to lead dropping back in distance and stepping up in class.
With a small field of seven engaged, expect this race to be run at a slow tempo. If Clark can steal some cheap sectionals in the lead, Wide Spread Panic will prove difficult to run down in the latter stages.
