It's one of the great days on the racing calendar, and it's also payback time for a big-finishing girl in the Group 1 Flight Stakes for the three-year-old fillies!

On triple Group 1 Epsom Handicap day at Randwick on a recovering Good 4 surface and True Rail, this is the ultimate stepping stone for the Brave Smash filly Kimochi.

Fourth-up into the prep, she now hits the ultimate 1600m distance peak.

And unlike the third-up effort a fortnight back in the Group 2 Tea Rose over 1400m when ridden too close, she can settle further back off the speed and produce a superior closing 400m burst.

Take her barn-storming second-up finish in the Group 2 Furious Stakes over 1200m as a good indication of form line, when she came from well back to run under a length of ruling favorite Tiz Invincible.

This time, all being equal, she settles back in a midfield trail off the fence.

Meanwhile Tiz Invincible, who had a soft trailing draw in the Tea Rose, has to work across from the outside barrier.

It's a key early component between two fillies who have little or nothing between them over the mile battle.

And for that reason, the gap in the early market - $2.70 for Tiz Invincible v $6.00 for Kimochi - was absurd.

The latter represents one of the best value bets on a naturally very open program, and Kimochi can also lay down a big marker for a trip to Melbourne.

I wouldn't rule out a slot in the Group 1 Cox Plate if she powers through this race.
