It’s Day 2 of the championships held at Randwick, and we’re in for an exhilarating race in the ATC Oaks.

The winner will join the ranks of champions like Very Ellegant, Bonneval, and Gust of Wind (the last horse to defeat Winx before her remarkable 33-race winning streak).

The New Zealand raider Orchestral has the keys to this race, but there does look to be some value outside of her.

Randwick Race 6 - The Australian Oaks (2400m)

Track Conditions

After recovering from a mud-pit of a track, Royal Randwick is currently rated as a Soft 7 and is expected to remain in that range come Saturday.

Speed Map

Dance with Hooves (7) is likely to lead, with Autumn Angel (5), Bush Girl (10), Quintessa (2), and Orchestral (1) sticking close behind.

Keep an eye on Tutta La Vita (4), who surprised everyone in her last start at the Vinery by leading by almost 4 lengths at times during the race, even shocking James McDonald and Orchestral.

The Favourite

Orchestral is the clear betting favourite at $1.55. She brings elite formlines from over in New Zealand and showed no signs of slowing down first up in Australia.

Zardozi, a three-time group winner follows at $5, while Autumn Angel sits at $8.

Tips

It’s hard to bet against Orchestral.

She’s simply in a class above the other fillies in this race.

Undefeated at the group 1 level, she boasts an impressive record on soft tracks.

With 9 starts, 6 wins, and 2 second-place finishes, she’s the real deal over 2400m.

I’m also looking at the NZ quinella with Quintessa.

This kiwi has performed well on various ground types, including a 4th place in the Australian Guineas and a 2nd place to Antrim Coast in the Alister Clark.

Despite the competitive field from the Vinery stakes, I believe she can go close to victory.

Tutta La Vita challenged Orchestral in their last encounter, narrowly losing out in the Vinery. Although she has only secured one career win, her promise shines through.

Watch for her strong finish.

Zardozi, the Kennedy Oaks winner, is well-prepared for this trip.

She settled impressively in the Vinery, finishing a great third behind Tutta La Vita and Orchestral.

With Tom Marquand retaining the ride, she could bring another Australian Oaks title to the Godolphin stable.

Race Placements:

  1. Orchestral
  2. Quintessa
  3. Tutta La Vita
  4. Zardozi

Betting Options:

  • Quinella 100% = $6
  • Trifecta 100% = $24
  • First Four 100% = $24
