Randwick Horse Racing Tips for Winx Stakes Day 19/8/23

Racing returns to Randwick for the start of the Spring Carnival.

Runners are faced with a true rail position and a likely Soft 5 surface.

 

Our leading NSW form analysts have settled on their best plays for the meeting.

 

Randwick Tip from Michael Gannon

 

Randwick Race 1 #3 Backrower $5.00

This well-performed galloper has form around Manzoice, Osipenko, Madame Pomery and Majorbeel to name a few.

He returns from a one-start preparation where nothing went to plan.

The long lay off looks to have worked in his favour, building plenty of strength in his time off.

He looks primed for a huge first-up performance off two nice trials.

Throw in that he finds a very winnable race in midway company and we have a cracking bet here.

He must overcome the wide draw but can do so from the generous 1200m Randwick starting point with gun jockey Hugh Bowman aboard.

Randwick Tip from Luke Hovhanesian

 

Randwick Race 2 #15 Pretty Vegas $15.00

This 4YO mare has been desperately unlucky to not have more wins on the board.

She has been racing around the NSW country and been pestered by longshots in her three runs back from a spell.

First up the 900m sprint at Queanbeyan was a bit short of her best, and she got run off her feet by backmarker

She then went to the Canberra synthetic and didn't handle the surface at all over the concluding stages when asked for an effort.

At her latest run, she landed in a beautiful position before being pressured on both her inside and outside as they turned for home.

This set the race up for a backmarker and Minnewater stormed over the top.

She gives every indication the Randwick track will suit and the predicted soft surface will be perfect.

From the soft draw of 3, in-form jockey Kerrin McEvoy can take up the running or land leaders back through the early stages.

With the majority of favoured runners drawing wide, they will need to work to find a position in the running.

The economical run and being at peak fitness 4th up gives her every chance to chalk up win number 2.

Randwick Race 5 #10 Extremely Lucky $3.30

I think the price of Extremely Lucky here is great.

He has a boom on him but I believe he has G1 sectionals in him.

His two trials under Waller have been elite to say the least.

What I love most about this setup is the small field, lightweight and lack of speed.

He will get back but the slow tempo should allow him to work into the race without using any energy.

I am convinced if he is 1-2L off them at the 400m he has the superior late sectionals.
