A short 6 race card is scheduled for Newcastle Racecourse this Tuesday.

The track has pulled up beautifully after constant racing here and is rated a Good 4.

There is a strong head wind likely tomorrow and horses with cover could be benefitted.

Luke has done the form and found two gems for your daily double.

Newcastle Race 1 #1 Island Lass $4.00

She will be forced to carry plenty of weight first up, but this 4YO mare out of Press Statement is the class runner of the field.

As a 3YO she holds a victory over Californiasilencer and multiple placing behind runners that have worked through their grades.

She has had two trials leading in and they were both solid with plenty of improvement for race day.

She will land midfield with cover from barrier 4 and with an early move can circle the field to let down.

She does take a while to hit top gear so the Newcastle track will suit her perfectly.

Looks a great price.

Newcastle Race 3 #4 Boss $4.00

This 4YO gelding can really use his last-start win to kick-start a strong provincial campaign.

He always showed promise in his 3YO preparation but was often overwhelmed on race day.

He was better composed when first up and blitzed his rivals at Port Macquarie.

Another key factor was him getting on top of the ground with the majority of runs being in the mud.

He strikes another good track and retains the services of Koby Jennings.

From barrier 3 he will lob midfield with cover, before making his move on the point of the turn.

With even luck can storm over the top of these.

Newcastle Beaumont Race 5 #11 Wild Irish Rover $3.20

This Mark Newnham trained galloper was competitive in tougher grade as a 2YO and looks well-placed to break his maiden today.

At his only race on a Good track, he finished 3.54 lengths off Fireburn & Revolutionary Miss.

He then struggled to produce on two Heavy tracks and was tipped out for a spell.

He's shown early toe in recent trials and this suggests he's far more switched on this time in.

The booking of Josh Parr who only has one booking today is a massive push that this gelding will be ready to win.

Looks like the good thing of the day!
