Lay Betting Tips: who to avoid on the punt 16/3/24

The Lay of the Year!

This week we have identified two key favourites, on a big card of racing at Rosehill in the build up to the Golden Slipper week.
Early in the day a Melbourne raider looks vulnerable.
The stable is way out of form and there are significant risks associated with travelling a young horse to Sydney for her first look at a tricky Rosehill circuit.
While later in the day I have found the “lay of the year” with another horse debuting at the track and way up in grade.
This is following his recent wins against “nothing” and he looks like an excellent risk at the poison odds.

Rosehill Race 3 #1 Eneeza $2.40
Melbourne raider who will have her work cut out for her as she has her first look at Rosehill and up against some high-quality locals, including the progressive Drifting.
The stable are completely out of form and in my opinion there are big question marks hanging over their processes.
Launching from gate 9 they will need plenty of luck to slot in and find a position, with a strong chance of being posted wide throughout.
J Mac is coming off a horror Wednesday meeting when toppled on a number of key chances and I feel the nerves could be building for a rider who is desperate to recapture his form prior to Golden Slipper week.
With plenty against I suspect a market drift for this runner, where $3+ could be widely available come start time.
Avoid.
Rosehill Race 10 #7 Tavi Time $1.80
Hype horse who has won his past 3 in lowly provincial and country grade.
He is now forced to arrive at Rosehill for the much tougher assignment of Sydney Saturday Metro class.
He comes up the lay of the year here at the current poison odds of $1.80, and I can’t see him starting any shorter than this quote.
The bigger betting teams are sure to oppose him on the basis this is his first look at the track.
He is not always the best beginner and with any leader bias earlier in the day, if they miss the start or are forced back, it is likely to end his chances.
