Tom Kitten Ready to Roar First Up

With more than half the field resuming, punters are set for another top-class and tactical contest in the Group 1 Memsie Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield this Saturday.
And I’ll be shocked if one of those spring-bound fresh stars doesn’t take it out.
The early market is siding narrowly with Another Wil around $4.60, with star Sydney mare Fangirl and multiple Group 1 winner and former Memsie hero Mr Brightside both hovering at $5.50.
Such is the depth in this year’s line-up that several proven Group 1 performers have gone up at each-way odds.
One in particular looks primed to launch first-up at a terrific price.

Memsie Stakes 2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets
Track Conditions
With intermittent rain predicted across the 36 hours leading up, the track should settle around a Soft 6 with the rail in the True position.
Expect a gradual shift away from the inside as the day progresses.
By the time the Memsie arrives, the winning runs should come down the middle lanes, suiting horses settling off the speed.

The Speed Map
Long-priced Here To Shock, second-up from a middle draw, is the likely leader.
Another Wil maps beautifully to stalk from a soft inside draw, with Mr Brightside crossing over from wide to sit close by.
Resuming mare Treasurethe Moment should enjoy a cosy run on the fence, with Fangirl just behind her.
Tom Kitten finds his ideal spot midfield or worse but importantly with cover, while Antino, Buckaroo and Pinstriped are all likely to drift back into the final group.
The Favourite
Another Wil has a terrific fresh record, handles soft ground, and boasts a 66% winning strike rate at Caulfield.
He maps perfectly to get cover and stalk the leaders.
Yet for all those positives, his current quote looks under the odds in a field of this depth.
If the tempo slackens mid-race, he’s vulnerable to being shuffled up at a crucial stage.

Neil’s Best Bet
At the early $8.50, Tom Kitten looks the forgotten runner.
Many are assuming he needs firm ground to win, this is not true!
He’s already a winner on both soft and heavy going, and punters will remember his luckless run in the Group 1 Futurity Stakes (1400m) in February when badly held up before flashing late to miss by a nose.
Two weeks later, he stormed home to claim the All-Star Mile.
He’s had two strong jump-outs up to 1000m and looks primed to fire fresh.
From his map, sitting off the fence and ready to roll from the 550m, his closing sectionals should be too strong.

The Dangers
Antino is a genuine threat, fresh and has trialled quietly with more to come.
Fangirl thrives on soft ground and will be charging late after missing the Randwick Group 1 due to a Heavy 10 surface.
Pinstriped, second-up with blinkers for the first time, looks a huge knockout chance at long odds.
And of course, Another Wil gets the dream run and should be there at the finish if the inside holds up.
