The Memsie Stakes at Caulfield marks the return of Group 1 racing in Victoria and the start of the Spring Carnival with star contenders set to perform throughout.
This Saturday renews the clash between Pride Of Jenni and Mr Brightside, promising to be another electric contest.
The other lead story is the arrival of new challenges such as Antino and Pinstriped who are looking to stake their claims.

Memsie Stakes 2024 Tips and Best Bets
Track Conditions:
The track is currently rated a Good 4 and with only light rain expected before Saturday, it should remain in that condition.
The rail returns to the True position after being out 9m at the last meeting, so expect a fair track where every runner has a chance.

The Speed Map
There are no surprises about who will take the early lead.
Pride Of Jenni (7) is expected to go forward and set a strong tempo, leading by several lengths.
Behind her, Bandersnatch (2) and Gentleman Roy (8) will likely form the next group of runners, while Mr Brightside (4) should find a comfortable spot in behind them, close to the pace.
The key will be Craig Williams ensuring Mr Brightside doesn’t get stuck behind runners.
He will likely look to peel off the rail early to keep Pride Of Jenni in his sights.
Antino (6) and Pinstriped (3) are expected to settle midfield but will want to be within striking distance given the strong tempo.

The Favourite
Pride Of Jenni is a known front-runner and is coming off a stellar Autumn campaign where she dominated the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes with a front-running victory.
Despite her form, some small doubts linger:
- She has yet to win first-up (0 from 7)
- Only has one win at 1400m from earlier in her career in a lower-grade race.
Given these doubts, the value might be elsewhere.
Tips
1st: Mr Brightside $2.70
Siding with Mr Brightside to get his revenge here and win his 7th Group 1 race.
He is the reigning champion and last preparation when first-up, he knocked off Pride Of Jenni at this track and distance in the Group 1 C.F. Orr Stakes.
He has a perfect 5 wins from 5 starts at this track and distance with 3 of those wins being Group 1’s.
Gets a good run in the race and Williams will ensure the favourite does not get too far out of his sights and he can look to gun her down over the concluding stages of the 1400m.
2nd: Pride Of Jenni $2.50
Pride Of Jenni has not missed a quinella position in her last 6 starts and I expect that streak to continue.
She just puts herself in such great positions to win with her racing style and how tough she is.
However, the 1400m does not quite allow her to showcase her full talent and she won’t be as far ahead as she usually is over the 1600-2000m races.
3rd: Antino $6.00
A potential future star, Antino looks in top form.
His jump-out behind Pride Of Jenni at Cranbourne was eye-catching, and his first-up record speaks for itself (5:4-0-0).
Jamie Kah should position him well behind the leading pair, but whether he has reached the level needed to beat Group 1 horses like Mr Brightside remains to be seen.
4th: Pinstriped $15.00
Pinstriped was narrowly beaten first-up and lost no admirers with that performance.
He’s a consistent runner who is expected to be competitive once again and should find a spot in the top four.
Verdict:
- Mr Brightside
- Pride Of Jenni
- Antino
- Pinstriped
