Flemington Race 6 – Coolmore Stud Stakes (1200m)
The Map
Favourite Growing Empire (9) will push forward for the lead with Yoshinobu (1) likely joining him on-pace.
Lady Of Camelot (4) should sit just behind the leaders, along with Traffic Warden (3) and Switzerland (8).
Coleman (6), First Settler (10), and Bellatrix Star (11) will settle toward the back, hoping for late moves. Anticipate a moderate pace, favouring those nearer the front.
The Winner
#5 Switzerland ($6.00)
Switzerland comes into this race primed, with the Coolmore targeted as his main goal for the prep.
His performance in the Group 2 Run To The Rose was scintillating and showcased how good he is at his very best.
Primed to peak here third-up, just like 2021 winner ‘Home Affairs’ did for connections.
James McDonald takes the ride and will get an easy steer on the Colt, as he should get the run of the race just behind the speed.
He’s had a win third-up before and looks ready to deliver.
The Danger
#3 Traffic Warden ($4.20)
A missed chance in the Everest two weeks ago doesn’t dampen his form, and Traffic Warden has already proven himself up the Flemington straight.
Just like Switzerland, he’ll be able to slot in behind the leaders, setting up perfectly to challenge late.
After being narrowly defeated by top-tier stablemate Broadsiding last start, he’s well-poised for a strong bounce-back performance here.
Flemington Race 8 – Empire Rose Stakes (1600m)
The Map
Grinzinger Belle (8) and longshot Socks Nation (13) are likely to take the lead, setting a fair pace.
Kimochi (1) and Plenty Of Ammo (3) are well-drawn to sit just behind them, with Revolutionary Miss (4) close by.
Amelia’s Jewel (2) should settle midfield, while top pick Atishu (9) and Orchestral (12) may have to go back from their wide barriers.
The Winner
#2 Amelia’s Jewel $5.50
Giving this gun mare one more chance.
She’s been very good this preparation without winning and while she certainly has had every possible chance in each of her runs, she has been on unsuited ground.
She gets back onto a dry deck for the first time this preparation, conditions she thrives in and has won at Flemington from her only visit.
Gets an excellent run in the race from barrier 2 and gets Jamie Kah aboard for the ride for the first time.
I'm expecting her to re-establish herself as one of the best mares in the country with a big win here.
The Value
#6 Kimochi $13.00
She’s in terrific form this preparation, including a win first-up and a solid 4th in the Group 1 Moir Stakes.
She will benefit from a comfortable run in barrier 1, positioned just behind the pacesetters.
While she’s a great place chance, a small win bet could also pay dividends if she manages to secure an early break.
