His last victory was in a Listed race where he outperformed The Map, a Melbourne Cup contender.

Morty managed a creditable placing at his last start, despite a drastic drop in distance and racing wide without cover.

Returning to the 1800m here should suit him perfectly, as he boasts a solid 3/8 record at this track and distance in far tougher races than this BM64.

With a weight drop to 58kg after the claim, this looks like an excellent opportunity for him.

If Morty can’t win here, it’s hard to see where he will.
