It might be early into the Summer but NSW racing is showing no signs of slowing down.

A belter of a meeting at Randwick is set for this Saturday, headlined by The Ingham at Group 2 level.

Luke Hovhanesian has gone through the field and found a couple of great plays.

Secure the hot mail now.

Track Conditions

Hot and dry conditions are set for the remainder of the week before a genuine heatwave hits Sydney on Saturday.

Top temperatures of 40 degrees are expected and this will ensure a rock-hard surface for the feature.

This will favour those up on speed and damper the chances of those coming from well back.

The danger with this weather however is not normally with the track surface but rather how it affects runners on raceday.

Check for any that are over-exerting or are struggling in the conditions before racing.

Randwick Race 7 - The Ingham (1600m)

The Map

A full field of 20 runners will tackle The Ingham and early market leaders Detonator Jack (15), Osipenko (24) and Rustic Steel (1) have all drawn shocking.

There will be genuine question marks on them if they do end up lining up in this field.

This has blown the race wide open and don't be surprised to see a rough result.

For the map, Attractable (3) and Phearson (11) will use their barriers to spear out and lead the field.

Hinged (7), Communist (9), King Magnus (20) and Surf Dancer (23) will all want the gun run right behind the speed, but the two latter mentioned runners could be caught in no man's land from the car park.

Vilana (6) is drawn perfectly to get a great run just off the speed and can make up for his last start failure at Caulfield.

Behind these mentioned runners it turns into a complete lottery with horses wanting to slot in midfield with cover.

Don't be surprised if the draw sees some runners being ridden upside down.

The Favourite

Detonator Jack ($3.70) has come up favourite off the back of a brilliant win at Kembla Grange in The Gong.

He spaced his rivals on that occasion but gets a completely different set-up here.

He is drawn poorly in barrier 15 and doesn't have the necessary speed from the wide gate to sit prominently in the run.

This means he will need to settle rearward and on a firm Randwick deck will have a task to reel in those up on pace.

Tips

As mentioned, by Race 7 on the program this Randwick track is going to be rock-hard and should play leaderish.

Without a tear-away leader completely blowing this race up, I am happy to side with those who get map favours.

Attractable ($13) was mighty impressive last start in the Big Dance on Melbourne Cup Day over this track and distance.

He absorbed early pressure, tracked the speed on the girth of the front runner and put pay to his rivals on the bend.

He is capable of running quick time and the Sara Ryan camp has him flying at the moment.

The barrier draw of 2 should see him lead and there shouldn't be an abundance of pressure.

His recent tick-over trial on the 28th of November was brilliant over the 1200m and he has shown no signs of tapering off.

Looks like a great play at the price.

Hinged ($21) has the mantra of being a pure wet tracker, and while she does excel with the cut out of the ground, there is more than enough ability there to give this a good shake at Group 2 level.

She brings one of the strongest form lines into this event, after running a respectable 8th in the Empire Rose.

She drew wide on that occasion and had to bide her time worse than midfield before running home well.

I think she is silently ticking over very well and her recent trial was eye-catching.

Gets in with only 55kg and Zac Lloyd will be eager to impress the master trainer Chris Waller.

Age Of Kings ($34) could be the roughie of the day at a huge price.

This Chris Waller import has come from England after contesting some of their big feature races as a 3YO.

He was sent to Australia to tackle the Golden Eagle and had minimal luck from a wide barrier.

He sat on a hot speed, three wide the trip and just as he was about to let down, got poleaxed by Amelia's Jewel.

He strips fitter and rises to a suitable distance, the same distance where he contested the G1 Irish 2000 Guineas.

While he didn't excel in England over this trip, he was still maturing and looks ready for it now.

If Waller has him primed for this off a nice trial at Randwick he could be the surprise packet of the field.

Hard to catch but we can't ignore a Group 1 winner like Lion's Roar ($15).

He has had a nice spaced-out campaign and put the writing on the wall last start at Randwick.

Will get back, but if they over cook it in front he will be storming home.

2nd Hinged

3rd Age Of Kings
