Racing returns to Rosehill and Luke Hovhanesian has lined up two roughies that can surprise.

Horse Racing Longshots for Rosehill

Rosehill Race 1 #8 Glorious Moments $91.00

This may look like I have lost the plot, but I'm confident this 2YO Colt by Brutal can run a much better race than the odds suggest.

A half brother to Group 2 Danehill Stakes winner Stretan Angel, Glorious Moments has trialled well behind some sharp types.

His first trial saw him finish 4L behind King Of Roseau, who is firm in the market here, but it doesn't highlight how hard he had to work throughout.

He was caught wide early, used up plenty of petrol to find a spot and then had to make a circling run in the straight.

He needed a shake up, but responded well when put under pressure to hit the line hard.

His second trial was a much more basic effort, but looked more like a fitness drill.

He enters this contest with a soft draw and Reece Jones who piloted him in those trials sticks on race day.

He should land in the first 6 runners and from there be given a chance to show his best.

Worth something small each-way.

 

Rosehill Race 7 #3 Barossa Rosa $34.00

I'm intrigued by the rise in distance to 1400m for this talented Adelaide mare.

As she gets on in age there is no surprise she has taken a few runs to hit peak fitness.

While her last run at Doomben reads 10th of 11, it was much better than it seemed from the rear of the field.

She is now 4th up, gets Kerrin McEvoy in the saddle who knows her well and draws soft in barrier 2.

I'm expecting her to land much closer to the speed this time around and finds a race with a soft tempo.

This should take out a lot of the backmarkers and give her an advantage over the field.

Look for her to peel off the leaders back and let down.

If she handles the rise in distance, she can be in the finish her at big odds.
