Race 4 #15 Influential $12.00

I've always had a huge opinion of this gelding and I'm confident he has returned in great order.

As a 2YO he was penned down to tackle the G1 J.J. Atkins but it all came a bit too soon for him.

Bad barrier manners amongst other issues really culled his performances and he was sent for a long spell.

His latest two trials have shown none of those concerns and he looks to have returned more mature, plus developed in strength.

I liked the way he attacked the line in his recent trial behind In Secret and other Group 1 runners.

He draws well for this race in barrier 8 and with Sam Clipperton aboard, should land forward of midfield with cover.

He just needs clear running to let down and be in the finish.

 

Race 10 #3 Legio Ten $10.00

This 4YO gelding was outstanding on preparation debut at Scone.

From a wide barrier and with the big weight, he had no choice but to settle at the rear of the field.

He was crowded on the turn and forced to go back to the inside of the track which by the end of the Scone carnival was the worst ground.

He did brilliantly to finish only 2.3L off the winner who had a clear passage right down the outside of the track.

Zac Lloyd sticks in the saddle and this time around he draws much better to land midfield with cover in the moving line.

He will strip fitter from that last start effort and is sure to enjoy the rise in trip to 1200m.

With clear running in the straight he looks awfully hard to go past.

Likely to start much shorter come racetime.
