Horse Racing Roughies and Longshots Tips at Randwick 10/2/24

Luke Hovhanesian has now nailed two $12 winners two weeks in a row for followers of his Roughies and Longshots article.

Racing heads to Randwick and he lines up two golden plays that could make your weekend a fill up.

Horse Racing Longshots for Randwick

Randwick Race 7 #14 Art's Alive $81.00/$16.00

I've got a lot of time for this 2YO filly and think the market has completely missed her here.

There is no doubt as she matures she will be better suited over 1400m+ but with the large field and solid tempo expected, can sprint well fresh.

Her first campaign at the races was full of merit.

She trailled twice in nice fashion before heading to Warwick Farm for a 2YO maiden in a strong field.

She sat on Sovereign Hill's back (1st) and ran on strongly to finish second, going straight past Counteroffensive (3rd).

Counteroffensive has recently run third in the Group 3 Chairman Stakes behind Blue Diamond favourite Coleman and the talented Eneeza.

Sovereign Hill on the other hand has been kept hidden by the Yu Long Investment camp since his debut win and only recently had a trial at Canterbury finishing alongside High Octane (Fav for Blue Diamond Prelude at Caulfield).

 

At start two in the Golden Gift, she jumped from a low barrier brilliantly, only to hand up and be crossed by some pacy types, landing three back the rail.

She travelled well until the runner in front of her fell in her face with nowhere to go.

She got squashed for room and didn't see daylight until the 100m mark.

Once she got out she ran home strongly and considering all that went wrong it was a great run.

 

She was since spelled and has once again trialled up against some quality types like Switzerland (3rd favourite for Golden Slipper).

From barrier 15 Reece Jones is going to have his work cut out for him.

However if he can land in the three wide moving line with cover, will give her every chance to run on strongly.

An each-way play at a massive quote.

Randwick Race 3 #7 Amati $21.00

This is a really weak race and there are plenty of holes in the runners at the top of the market.

I'm happy to have a speck each-way on this talented Chris Waller Mare, who on her day has a strong turn of foot.

She is now 4th up and draws a great barrier to land closer to the speed.

Tim Clark has been engaged and will give her every chance from the low draw.

She enjoys tracks with the cut out of them and with the expected scattered showers should get conditions to suit.

Looks over the odds and can surprise with clear running in the straight.
