Horse racing Lays of the Day 25 May 2019

Jockey leads expose favourite
This week’s lay selections focus on two runners where the top riders have given us an excellent “lead” by choosing not to ride them.
The leading jockeys always have rides shopped to them by the big stables and have the luxury of declining if they feel there is a better chance in the race.
More often than not, this is a great lead for punters as the jockeys are the best judge of a runner's ability and potential performance.
Eagle Farm Race 4 #8 Savitiano $3.10
Would have been shopped around to both Kerrin McEvoy and James McDonald’s mangement, before Godolphin had to settle for third tier rider Tommy Berry. This clearly indicates that the leading hoops were willing to avoid.
She was soft late in betting at Scone last start, when narrowly beaten by Gai and Adrian’s hyped up import Con Te Partiro.
I feel the market has become far too carried away with that form and it should prove to be one of the weaker references for this.
The leading riders know exactly how they are performing at trackwork and in Kerrin McEvoy’s multiple trips to Godolphin this week, it seems as though he's seen nothing special. Lay.
Eagle Farm Race 7 #7 Luvaluva $3.80
Is another runner short in the market that the leading jockeys have opted to steer clear of.
This includes Blake Shinn who would have been first choice, but has chosen #2 Haripour and given us a good lead in the process.
Luvaluva will get well back from gate 14 and almost certainly have to come wide around the field to be winning.
She’ll put in another “flashing light” performance here, however there is plenty of class engaged elsewhere and you can expect a significant market drift out beyond $4.00.
Represents rock bottom odds at the current $3.80 quote and is one to avoid at all costs. Lay.
