Free Horse Racing Tips for the Sandown Stakes 2023

Antino out for redemption
AAPTagged: Horse Racing Tips, Sandown, Cody Lane
The long weekend rolls on and the quality racing continues with a cracking meeting at Sandown.
It is very rare seeing a race card with this amount of quality on a Sunday and punters will be hoping to finish the weekend on a high.
The feature race is the Group 3 Sandown Stakes over 1500m.
After being a moral beaten last start at Flemington, Tony Gollan-trained ‘Antino’ will be looking to bounce back here and is a $1.70 favourite.
Can he make it an impressive 9 wins from 11 starts or is there a diamond in the rough? We’ll take a look.
Cody is on a 3 week win streak!
Track Conditions
The track is currently rated as a Good 4 and that will be the case again tomorrow.
Running rail is out 6m the entire circuit and this should see the track play evenly with a slight advantage to horses on-pace and settling midfield from middle barriers.
The slight disadvantages will be horses settling midfield from inside barriers or at the rear from outside barriers.
Sandown Race 9 – Underwood Stakes (1800m)
The Map
For a small field, there should be a bit of pace on up front early with Toregene (Barrier 3), Here To Shock (Barrier 4) and Vreneli (Barrier 7) all likely to try and find the top two spots.
This should allow for Golden Path (Barrier 2) and the odds-on favourite Antino (Barrier 5) to get the gun runs just behind the pace.
Ulysses (Barrier 1), Superium (Barrier 6) and Earlswood (Barrier 8) should make up the rest of the field at the rear.
The Favourite
It was awful viewing for backers on the Queenslander last start but he should not see such a hard luck story here today.
Sitting off the pace and off the running rail should allow for Blake Shinn (who is riding in exceptional form) to peel 3-wide off the strong speed and allow this talented 5yo to let rip down the Sandown straight.
With the perfect run in transit, he should have no reason not to be winning this time around and extend his excellent record to 9 wins from 11 starts.
Cody's Best Bet Tips
You just can’t go against the favourite Antino here.
He was a moral beaten last start at Flemington and ran incredibly well considering the circumstances he came across.
Gets the perfect run in the race and should be too good.
Golden Path was another horse who had very little luck last start and also looked a certainty beaten at this track.
He’s a talented horse on the rise and is still very lightly-raced (with this being only his 5th start as a 4yo).
Has plenty of upside and expecting he will improve greatly up in trip to the 1500m second-up.
Just might need a touch of luck to get off the running rail behind the pace at the right time.
Here To Shock continues to race in good form and it took a smart one in ‘Devoted’ to run him down last start.
He holds a perfect 4 wins from 4 runs third-up and if he can get a softer lead than I am predicting he will get or looks to settle behind the pace, he should be right in amongst the finish also.
Should be those 3 as the top 3 in the race.
If they go hard up front, expecting that Ulysses will be able to run on from the back and hit the line late to finish 4th.

1st Antino
2nd Golden Path
3rd Here To Shock
