Free Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets on Friday 5/1/24

Racing in NSW on Friday takes place at Ballina and Wagga, with competitive fields littered throughout both meetings.

There's hot an humid conditions throughout the east coast of Australia and punters should be wary of late afternoon thunderstorms.

Gun NSW form analyst Luke Hovhanesian steered punters into a $5 pop on Thursday at Muswellbrook and is keen to repeat the dose today.

Race 8 #3 Discretions $6.50

I'm hoping for a return to form for this 4YO mare out of Bull Point.

She was brilliant when winning on debut and was quickly spelled.

She returned as a short-priced favourite at Coffs Harbour and was far from disappointing coming from a long way back to run third.

Last start she was ridden upside down and led the field up, a pattern that didn't suit her.

She tired and ran midfield, but can be forgiven for that effort.

For this contest, she strips fitter third up and gets Danny Peisley in the saddle and draws beautifully in barrier 4.

If she can land midfield with cover, Peisley will be able to extricate and give her every chance to break through for win number two.

Wagga Best Bet from Luke Hovhanesian

Race 3 #5 Projeto $2.20

A dominant victor first up at Corowa in this grade, this 4YO gelding was thrown in the deep end at Moonee Valley last start.

He was far from disgraced and given he had to carry 60.5kg, his effort was more than pleasing.

He now heads to Wagga and can build on his promising career third up.

He draws wide but he's good enough to be able to slot in midfield with cover.

With any luck, he'll prove far too sharp for his rivals here.
