Race 1 Kilman $5.00

Kilman has caught the eye at the trials and now steps out under James McDonald, a significant booking that signals confidence from the stable.

His closing effort in a Warwick Farm 790m trial was impressive, showcasing his turn of foot before backing that up with a strong showing over 1050m in preparation for this first-up run.

From barrier 5, he should settle midfield, allowing him to find the best ground in the straight and launch late.

He looks a serious talent, and this race should be the perfect springboard for bigger assignments.

Race 6 Seven’s $3.20

A progressive stayer who was a late scratching when we tipped him last start, Seven’s was heavily backed before coming out of that event.

The market confidence was telling, and he now lines up against what appears to be a moderate field of stayers.

His Australian debut effort showed enough to suggest he has far superior ability to his rivals here.

The 37-day break is a slight concern, but given the in-form Neasham-Archibald stable we can trust that he’s been kept up to the mark.

Seven’s profiles as a rare mid-week stayer who can progress to Saturday grade and he should prove very hard to beat.
