Race 8 #5 – Saltcoats $3.00

Saltcoats broke through for his first Australian win two weeks ago at this track.

First-up, he was caught too far back in a fast-run race at Kembla Grange, where many backmarkers struggled to get into the race.

This former Kiwi ended his last preparation with a fast-finishing third in the Tulloch Stakes behind Wymark as a three-year-old, proving that the step up to 2000m here won’t be an issue.

Now third-up and ready to peak, he maps beautifully to settle forward of midfield under Nash Rawiller, who pairs well with him.

Crucially, Saltcoats projects to settle significantly ahead of his main rival Bullets High, which could prove decisive.

With only 10 starts under his belt, Saltcoats still has upside.

This is an important race for him to confirm his potential and take another step forward.
